Keto Pumpkin Spice Lactation Smoothie
Keto Pumpkin Spice Lactation Smoothie
This healthy keto pumpkin spice lactation smoothie will quickly become your favorite this fall (or any time of the year.) You will not even miss the Starbucks drinks that are loaded with sugars.Â
As a breastfeeding mama, this quick and easy smoothie will keep you full, help boost energy and most importantly help boost your milk supply. This is perfect to add into your day when doing the keto and breastfeeding diet.
What keto foods are in the this smoothie that will help increase supply?
There are many keto foods that are a galactagogue, aka something that can help boost milk supply. Here are a few I included in this recipe:
- Pumpkin – Pumpkin is an excellent food way to boost milk supply and is full of nutrients including potassium, beta-carotene, Vitamin A, C, and E. (1) Pumpkin is also full of antioxidants.Â
- Flaxseed – Flaxseed contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and phytoestrogens that can help with milk supply. (2) Flaxseed is also nutrient-dense and full of omega 3 which also is so great while breastfeeding.
- Brewer’s Yeast – Brewer’s yeast is a superfood. It is packed with protein and is full of nutrients like iron, zinc, vitamin B, magnesium, and potassium. I recommend starting small with this one because it has a strong taste!
- MCT Oil – Many mamas wonder if MCT is safe while breastfeeding. Yes, it is! It’s a great way to boost your healthy fats and milk supply for the day. (3) Make sure to start slowly with MCT oil though, too much could cause digestive issues.Â
- Turmeric – You can learn more about turmeric in my Lactation Keto Turmeric Latte post.

Is Pumpkin Keto-Friendly?
Yes, you can definitely have some pumpkin while doing the keto diet. Especially while breastfeeding. While breastfeeding most mamas have a higher carb tolerance.Â
Pumpkin is high in fiber and low in carbs, plus, has all the amazing lactation benefits (I have the benefits listed above the recipe.) I like to always pair carbs with healthy fat and protein. So, this pumpkin smoothie and my pumpkin spice lactation fat bombs make the perfect fall treats.
Do lactation recipes really work?
Yes, keto lactation cookies and other lactation recipes do really help with supply, if the recipes contain galactagogues. Every mama is different though on what galactagogues work for them.
How Long will it take to for the latation recipes to work?
This varies greatly from mama to mama. Some mamas see an instant increase in supply but others need to wait a couple of days. But, what better way to test it out to see if it work for you than when this yummy pumpkin smoothie recipe above.
Are protein powders safe to use while breastfeeding?
Yes, protein powders are safe while breastfeeding. However, make sure you are looking for protein powders with clean ingredients. There are so many protein powders that are full of crappy sweeteners and processed ingredients. (Especially, some of the “keto” ones.) So, make sure to check what sweeteners the protein powder has it is sweetened with and also what ingredients are added. Check out my Keto Protein Powder post with all my favorite clean protein powders.

I cannot wait to try this! My baby is one week old and I have had to supplement some with formula due to him having low blood sugar.
I am already at my pre-pregnant weight and in my jeans thanks to keto while pregnant, but I still have 40 pounds to lose. Thanks for all your help!!!
