Can I Have Caffeine While Breastfeeding?
Yes, caffeine is usually safe while breastfeeding. Caffeine is recommended to be limited per day. The recommended amount is 300 milligrams of caffeine per day.
I also always suggest paying attention to your little one when you have it seeing trace amounts of caffeine is transferred. However, most babies aren’t affected but every baby is different.
You can always use decaf coffee instead and still enjoy this as a treat.
Can I Have Peppermint While Breastfeeding?
Peppermint is one of those foods you are told to possibly avoid while breastfeeding. Drinking an occasional cup of coffee with peppermint extract should not be a problem. You’d have to drink very large amounts daily (think quarts!) to decrease your supply.
That being said, every mama is different, test to see what works for YOU. You can always take out and enjoy a white chocolate mocha instead!
