Breastfeeding Must Haves for new mamas
The top 10 breastfeeding must-haves products that I know you will love. This list is everything you need to buy for your breastfeeding and pumping journey.
I’d love to hear some of your favorites too. Post them in the comments below. 🙂 Â
#1) Medela Pump in Style
There are TONS of pump options out there. I personally have only tried this pump but it has lasted through all 3 kids so far, so I’m calling that a win. Make sure to check with your insurance company. Most insurance companies are now covering pumps!
#2)Â Milk Savers
These will quickly become your favorite. These little guys collect your letdown on the side you are not nursing. They are so helpful when you are engorged as your milk supply comes in and in the morning when you are full.
I personally will get at least 1-2 oz collected in these each morning!
#3) Extra Bottles
Whether you plan on just nursing, just pumping, or doing both, having extra bottles is a must.Â
The Medela bottles are great because if you’re using their pump you don’t have to transfer to other bottles.
My favorite bottles are the Mam Bottles. All 3 of my kids were/are bottle picky. They also all loved their pacifiers but would only use the Mam Brand. The Mam bottle nipples are exactly like their pacifier nipples so it made a huge difference when I switched to giving them their bottles in these.
#4)Â Nipple Cream
You will need this at some point in your nursing journey – just trust me on that! I love this Earth Mama brand because it’s organic and made with all-natural ingredients. I also love that you don’t have to wash it off before nursing and it isn’t sticky at all.Â
#5Â Comfortable Nursing Bras
Comfortable nursing bras are a must! I found these off of Amazon and they quickly became my favorite.
#6)Â Boppy PillowÂ
This is a must for when you are nursing. It helps give relief to your arms and back.Â
I love using it also for putting around my other kids when they want to hold my little guy.
#7)Â Reusable Nursing Pads
You will never want to buy the disposable ones again. These are soft, absorbent and you won’t even notice they are there. These will also save you tons of money by not having to keep buying the disposable ones.
#8)Â Large Water Bottle With Lid and StrawÂ
Water is SO important to get in while breastfeeding! A cup with a lid and straw makes it so much easier to get your water in while your nursing your little without spilling on them 🙂 Make sure to get a large size so your not filling it up all day long.
This cup is also perfect to make my electrolyte recipe in.
#9)Â Nursing Cover
This nursing cover made breastfeeding in public so much more comfortable for me. I know some mamas don’t mind but it’s always nice to have on hand.
#10)Â Milk Supply Supplements
You will want to have some sort of milk support at home for the days you know you didn’t drink that much water, or your babe is going through a growth spurt. I have used these Milk Flow Pills and Earth Mama Tea and have really liked both.Â
